In short

HTML2Prompt works entirely inside your browser. The pages you visit are never sent anywhere, there is no account and no tracking, and the extension makes no network requests of its own.

What happens when you capture a component

The extension reads the page in front of you and builds the snapshot and the screenshot locally. The result stays on your machine: it goes to the clipboard when you press “Copy”, or to files when you press “Download”. No copy is kept and none is uploaded.

What is stored on your machine

Only your preferences (stack, fidelity, language, options), in Chrome's synced storage so they follow you to your other machines. Nothing about the pages you visit or the components you capture is stored. Uninstalling the extension removes everything.

Permissions, and why

  • activeTab + scripting: read the page only in the tab where you started the capture, and only after a gesture of yours.
  • debugger: screenshots of components taller than the screen, and a short test drag on elements detected as draggable (they are put back right after). Used for that moment only, then detached.
  • storage: your preferences.
  • contextMenus: the right-click menu entries.

Third parties

None. The extension doesn't talk to any server, ours included: no analytics, no crash reporting, no remote code. This website is hosted on Vercel, which logs incoming requests to the site as any web server does.

Your rights

Since no personal data is collected, there is nothing on our side to access, correct or delete.
